It all started as a movie script, so I set out to write a story no more than twenty pages long, yet soon enough twenty turned into forty, forty into eighty, eighty into more than one hundred, then two hundred, to finally quench perfection's thirst at almost the initial number of pages squared. It was quite a trip. But don't worry, it's shorter than it appears, the camera is many a time set in fast motion and the frames always point forward. So what is the novel about? About men and women, as almost everything in life. About what a story is and how it becomes one, about the ways the mirror and the photograph face one another to create one's persona. About how to draw the reader into a tale's painting by revealing layer upon layer of signification deeply embedded into our subconscious and how the characters lure them out of our mind's eye. About choices. Bad and worse choices. How sometimes a good one comes along and we might just steal some happiness. Or not. About being blind enough, or stubborn enough, to persist in following our lives' wrong film script irrespective of the 'No' signs we get to see along the way - and still do it while fully knowledgeable of our having seen them. I have to admit that my being constantly bewildered by it is what compelled me to write the novel. About unkindness and how it creeps inside of you, turning your dreamworld into a death world. How does that happen? How does the prince turn into the dragon? That's the essential red thread of the story. Red. Desire. Why not think of Desire as a Mirror? They do reflect us best, after all. If one were torn between two opposite yearnings it would be like he were placed in between two giant mirrors catching him in between while they echoed one another into nothingness. There are only so many mirrors-in-mirrors a pair of eyes can see. Some see better than others, yet eventually the mirrors' reciprocal reflections become too small for anybody to make out. That's when you get lost. When chances are the gazer's conscience will shred and fade away just as the mirrors did. Ever had somebody close to you got lost in such a maze and could not wake up from such a self-inflicted nightmare? Or perhaps first person singular applies even better - it is the 'I' who dreams reality as (s)he *sees* fit. The eye and the I. This phrase describes 'Glowing Archetypes' best. Glowing is about seeing and the archetypes about our innermost sense of identity - we are what we see and we see what we choose to be. Whenever our life's film is cut, we get to see the bubble/illusion we live in. Most times it's the only way to get to see it. Which is what the first scene is all about. About whether you can truly understand whatever you choose to call 'your' reality - and unavoidably end up believing that you can control it -or not. I believe you cannot. Eve (the She principle) seems to have no control at all, at first not understanding what is going on, then gradually 'getting it' - yet knowledge apparently doesn't bring more control. Adam (the He principle) believes he is in full control, but finally that's even further from the truth of Eve having non. The passers-by also believe they have it right, taking darkness for the light simply because it's easier, since the path of the least resistance governs most of one's actions more strongly than any other force. And finally us, the readers, the 'outside' passers-by, we'll also believe we 'get' it. It's what we do best. Assuming. Still non of the characters - the ones looking at the screen right now included - have it right. Otherwise it would be boring, of course. Yet how exactly these four broken perspectives intertwine and diverge successively, mirroring the ever flash chasing camera of the human soul in order to create something out of nothing - which is what growing as a person is a all about - braid themselves into a larger tree-trunk of self-knowledge is what the novel seeks to explore.The She,
